Queensmead Estate, Swiss Cottage. We were asked here to completely redesign the layout of a flat that was untouched since it was built in the 1960’s. It was a rabbit warren of rooms, quite dark, had gold wallpaper in the guest loo, a bright orange bathroom suite, with matching orange kitchen!
Plans were carefully prepared liaising with the estates management. The block was of a concrete slab construction. Thus thoughtful logistic design was needed for the re-wire and re-plumb, since it was impossible to chase new wires or pipes into the fabric of the building.
Extensive hidden led cove lighting was used throughout to give the impression of the ceiling being higher than it actually is, as well as injecting more ambient light into the dark hallways.
Despite the client’s desire for the flat to be luxurious when finished costs were controlled significantly by sensible use of materials and fittings, using a combination of bespoke with off the peg items.
As usual our construction team saw this project through from start to finish.
